i am using psp9
start with ur av ..
go to 'layers' and choose 'new raster
layer'...
choose ur font - for the top font i'm
using broken15-
settings are floating, size 48, 0.0 strokes, anti-alias: sharp, everything else set
on zero
position the floating font where you want it and then go to 'layers'
choose 'new raster layer', go to 'effects/3D effects/drop shadow' and the settings are:

and click 'ok.' go to 'selections' and choose 'select none.'
i use the layer palette a lot so make sure you can access that by going to 'view' and click on 'palettes' and then on 'layers.'
reduce layer one [text] to about 62 and layer two [drop shadow] to about 86 and it will look something like this!
i always put the font on it's own layer and the drop shadow on it's own layer... this way you can fade either and/or both

you usually will want your anti-alias set to
'sharp' for larger fonts [or you'll have very rough outlines!] and set on 'off' for small clear fonts.
make a new raster layer again [layers/new raster/ok] and add a smaller font. i'm using hooge 05_57, same settings as before
except for size, now 6, and anti-alias is 'off.' apply the text and position it where you want it. go to 'layers/new raster layer'
and 'ok.' go to 'effects/3D/drop shadow'
and your settings are all the same except for vertical which is just set at 1.
hit ok...go to 'selection' and 'select none.'
go to the layer palette and fade the text layer to 82 and then fade the drop shadow layer to 56. for a variation
you can just put a space between each letter and repeat drop shadow effects. when applying text in dark colors, do not
use a drop shadow as it makes it all..um.. glunky! yeah .. glunky! when you put text on it's own layer, you can always
play with the layer...fade it .. or fade the drop shadow until you get your desired result.

more to come ...stay tuned ..
